Residents of Our Farm Sanctuary
A farm is not just land and structures and equipment. To us, it is a home that belongs to a family, and that family consists of many kinds of animals with different pasts and different needs. These diverse and colorful personalities paint the landscape of our farm sanctuary… and they teach us things like commitment, patience, empathy, ingenuity, and to recognize commonality across all species. Story
Walter is an incredibly sweet and devastatingly handsome Ayrshire steer who came to us by way of a wonderful woman who saved him as a baby calf. His Mom was a dairy cow, and being born a boy is never a good thing in the dairy industry. He was set to be carted off to slaughter, when a guardian angel managed to step in and take him home instead! He is, however, a steer... and wow did he start to get big! Unable to house him permanently, his guardian angel reached out to us to see if we'd give him a forever home... and we were honored to. This guys is all heart and we just adore him. :)
